The Aquinas boys’ basketball team withstood a late charge from North Bend Central and the Monarchs edged the Tigers 53-52 in the subdistrict finals last night. 

Aquinas will play in a C1 district final against Auburn with a trip to the state tournament on the line. North Bend advances to the district finals as a wild card.  The Tigers will play St. Paul in the next round.

In a C2 boys subdistrict final, Twin River needed overtime to take down Shelby-Rising City 78-73. Both clubs move on to the district finals. The Titans will meet BRLD, while the Huskies will face Yutan. 

In D1 action, East Butler downed Omaha Christian Academy 64-41. The Tigers will tangle with North Platte St. Patrick’s in a district final. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family beat Howells-Dodge 55-46 to end the Jaguars’ season at 14-11. The Bulldogs will play Elmwood-Murdock in districts.  Fullerton shaded Heartland 69-66 in overtime, with both teams making district finals. The Warriors face West Holt, while the Huskies meet Southern Valley.

In D2, Humphrey St. Francis improved to 24-0 by routing Bloomfield 66-27. The top-seeded Flyers play Giltner in a district final. And Osceola’s season ended at 12-12 after a 56-39 loss to Exeter-Milligan.
