Boys State Golf: Kuhlman Medals, Scotus is Runner-Up
Columbus High’s Brock Kuhlman earned a medal in the Class A boys state golf tournament. The Discoverers junior shot a 6-over par 78 at Norfolk Country Club yesterday. He finished the two-day event at 9-over par and tied for 13th.
Scotus fell to Bishop Neumann in a sudden death playoff for the Class C team title. Neumann made up a 10-stroke deficit yesterday at the Kearney Country Club to force the playoff. Individually, Scotus freshman Nick Fleming wound up tied for fourth with Jaylin Jakub of third-place Aquinas, as each finished 18-over.
Jack Lubischer of St. Francis tied for fourth in the Class D tourney at North Platte, while Shelby-Rising City wound up 14th out of 15 clubs in the team standings. Mount Michael Benedictine won the Class B crown at Elks Country Club. The Knights’ Luke Gutschewski went 2-under to claim the individual title by nine strokes.
