Boys State Basketball Tips Off Today in Lincoln

The boys state basketball tournament opens today in Lincoln. 

In the C1 tourney, Central City returns to state for the first time in 76 years.  The seventh-seeded Bison are 24-3 and face No. 2 seed Ogallala.  The Indians are 26-0 and are making their fifth state tournament appearance in the last six years.  Tipoff at the Devaney Sports Center is set for 1:30 p.m. and you can hear the game on KZ-100. 

The venue will be the same tonight for the D1 quarterfinal between Howells-Dodge and Johnson-Brock.  But, that 7:45 p.m. contest will be broadcast on 93.5 The Hawk.  The No. 6 seed Jaguars come in with a 20-6 record, while the third-seeded Eagles are 22-4. 

Osceola’s opening game in the D2 boys state tourney is set for tomorrow at 10:45 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  The Bulldogs will face Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on The Hawk.
