The NSAA membership has voted to approve bowling as a sanctioned sport, while girls wrestling gained approval yesterday as an emerging sport.

Needing to gain 60 percent of votes, bowling just made it by a vote of 31-20.  The vote against adding girls wrestling as a sanctioned NSAA activity was 28-23.

But, earlier in the day, the NSAA Board of Directors voted 7-1 to add girls wrestling as an emerging sport.  That means there will not be a separate girls wrestling tournament next year, but it could be adopted later during a three-year window.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, bowling may not start until the 2021-22 school year.
