Both Lakeview Legion Teams Romp in Home-Opening Wins

Lakeview’s American Legion baseball teams both recorded home-opening wins against Wisner-Pilger at Pawnee Park last night. 

The Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors cruised to a 12-0 victory in five innings.  Starter Grayson Vogt and Eli Kreikemeier combined on a two-hitter, allowing just one walk with 10 strikeouts.  Rylin Viergutz and Zandyr Kohl each had two RBI for Lakeview.  The Seniors upped their record to 3-1. 

Lakeview’s Juniors won 13-3 in five innings.  Viergutz pitched three perfect innings, striking out seven of the nine batters.  He also had a hit, an RBI and two runs as the Juniors leadoff batter.  Nash Henk and Trevor Wetgen each had two RBI and two runs as Bank of the Valley improved to 2-1. 

Both Lakeview clubs hit the road Wednesday night, with the Seniors playing at Oakland-Craig and the Juniors visiting Hooper-Scribner. 

It was also announced yesterday that Lakeview’s home games against Pender that were rained out last Friday will be made up Sunday, June 23rd.  The Juniors contest has a 3 p.m. first pitch, followed by the Seniors at 5:30.
