Borders to Transfer, Seven Former Huskers Ink With NFL Teams

Edge rusher Chief Borders has become the first Nebraska football player to enter the transfer portal.

Borders played just one season for the Huskers after spending his first two years at Florida.  The backup played all 12 games for NU last season, recording nine tackles.

Meanwhile, seven members of Nebraska’s 2023 senior class have signed as free agents with NFL teams.  Receiver Billy Kemp joined the Giants and  running back Anthony Grant heads to the Buccaneers’ rookie mini camp.  On the defensive side, safety Omar Brown and cornerback Quinton Newsome both signed with the Broncos and safety Phalen Sanford joined the Raiders.  Offensive guard Nouredin Nouili agreed to terms with the Saints.  Long snapper Marco Ortiz will try out with the Chargers.
