Amid Losses Monday, Husker Football Keeps Holgorsen
Nebraska football signed offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen to a two-year contract Monday, following the reported loss of defensive coordinator Tony White who took the same job at Florida State.
Holgorsen joined the Huskers in early November, first as an offensive consultant. He moved into the role of coordinator and play-caller for the final three games of the season. NU’s offense improved, highlighted by a 44-25 victory over Wisconsin, before taking its foot off the gas in the second half of last Friday’s 13-10 loss at Iowa. Holgorsen’s two-year deal will pay him $1.2 million annually.
Meanwhile, the Omaha World-Herald reports a source confirmed White has left for the Seminoles. ESPN reports he’ll sign a three-year deal with FSU, which struggled to a 2-10 record this season.
A few reports yesterday said Nebraska defensive line coach Terrance Knighton would follow White to Tallahassee, but there haven’t been follow-up reports to confirm that move.
Two more Husker players entered the transfer portal Monday: defensive lineman Jimari Butler who last week said he planned on staying in Lincoln, and linebacker Mikai Gbayor.
