Alberts Optimistic NU Football Will Continue Sellout Streak

Nebraska’s athletic director Trev Alberts said yesterday that he’s optimistic the Huskers’ sellout streak will continue this season.

According to media reports, Alberts did not share any specific ticket sales numbers in a speech at a Lincoln Chamber event Tuesday.  Not counting last season, Nebraska football has played before a full house at Memorial Stadium for 375 straight games, dating back to 1962.

Alberts also said the football program’s vaccination rate has come a long way in the past month.  He said NU is awaiting COVID-19 protocols from the Big Ten for this season, but for now the athletic department is abiding by the university’s policies and county guidelines.  Alberts said there’s a reasonable chance that if a team has to miss a game due to COVID-19, it will be a forfeit and a loss this season, rather than a no-contest like last year.  The Big 12 announced yesterday that’s the plan for its football season.
