25 Local Wrestlers, 85 From Area Compete as State Meet Opens

A dozen boys and girls wrestlers from both Columbus High and Lakeview will be competing in the state wrestling meet.  One Scotus grappler and 85 from area schools are also in Omaha for the three-day event that begins today.

The Discoverers qualified 11 boys and one girl for the Class A tournament.  That includes Adrian Bice, who won a gold medal last year to become the 38th state champion in CHS history.

Lakeview is represented at CHI Health Center by seven boys and five girls.  Vikings competing in the Class B meet include Landon Ternus who brings a 41-0 record this season into his fourth trip to state.  He finished third a year ago.  Scotus freshman Hunter Brunkhorst also qualified in Class B.

You can hear state wrestling updates on KZ-100 and KLIR 101 today through Saturday starting around 10 a.m. each day.
