Columbus High Football Hosts Lincoln Southwest Tonight

Columbus High’s football team hosts Lincoln Southwest tonight.  It’s the first of four Thursday night games for the Discoverers this season.

Columbus opened the season with a 28-21 win at Fremont, but Tanner Esch, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, suffered a broken finger and will miss a few weeks.  Liam Blaser ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns at Fremont, but was held to 32 yards and one score in last Friday’s 38-7 home loss to Norfolk.

Coach Craig Williams says the offensive line was frustrated against the Panthers.  “We had to get back (in practice this week) to some of the details and the basics of taking our first step and staying low off the ball and making sure we’re the aggressor on the offensive and defensive lines,” Williams said.

Lincoln Southwest is 1-0 after edging Lincoln High 20-19 last Friday.  You can hear play-by-play of tonight’s action on KLIR 101.  Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
