Lakeview football coach Kurt Frenzen has been selected as head coach of the North Team in next year’s Shrine Bowl.  One of Frenzen’s assistant coaches for the game will be the Vikings defensive coordinator, Jeff Bargen.

The Shrine Bowl’s Executive Board announced the 12 coaches, six on the North and six more on the South, in a news release today.

Frenzen is starting his 24th year of teaching and coaching at Lakeview.  In 2016, he was named a Top 15 Coach for US Cellular’s Most Valuable Coach Award.

In the Shrine Bowl’s release, Frenzen said he was “very honored and humbled” by the selection.  Frenzen said: “This game has always been the marquee all-star matchup featuring Nebraska’s best football talent.”

Frenzen, who experienced the Shrine Bowl as an assistant coach in 2014, added the Shrine Bowl’s cause has the greatest impact on him.  All proceeds from the game benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The 63rd annual game is scheduled for June 5, 2021 in Kearney.
