Select events to be live-streamed during 2018 Elvis Presley birthday celebration

Courtesy of Graceland.comThe 2018 edition of Elvis Presley‘s annual Birthday Celebration at the late King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, kicked off Thursday and will run through Monday, January 8, the day Presley actually was born in 1935.

Two of the main highlights of the five-day extravaganza, “The Auction at Graceland” memorabilia sale on Saturday and the annual Birthday Proclamation on Monday, will be viewable live online via

The auction, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT, will feature such collectibles as a diamond and platinum ring Elvis gave as a gift to his girlfriend Linda Thompson, which is valued at between $30,000 and $40,000; and a TCB necklace once owned and worn by Presley that has an estimated worth of $20,000 to $30,000.

The Birthday Proclamation ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. CT on Graceland’s front lawn. A number of officials from Graceland and the Memphis area will take part in the event, which will feature the cutting of a birthday cake and a proclamation of “Elvis Presley Day” in Memphis.

Another event being held as part of the Birthday Celebration is a concert at Memphis’ Cannon Center for the Performing Arts featuring singer/songwriter Terry Mike Jeffrey saluting Presley’s music with accompaniment from the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The show is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Then, on Monday at 10:15 a.m. CT, the “Hollywood Backlot” exhibit, featuring production sets from the CMT series Sun Records, will open at the Elvis Presley’s Memphis museum. Musician/actor Will Tucker, who portrayed Presley guitarist Scotty Moore on the show, will be in attendance.
