The Piano Man met The Joker last night at Madison Square Garden, as Billy Joel welcomed fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller to the stage during the latest installment of his monthly residency at the famed New York City venue.
Miller appeared about halfway through Joel’s concert. As seen in fan-filmed video posted on YouTube, Steve asked the crowd, “Hi everybody, you ready to have some fun?” He then asked them to vote on whether he should perform his 1967 hit “Livin’ in the U.S.A.” or “The Joker.” The audience clearly cheered more loudly for the latter tune so “The Joker” it was.
After the performance, Miller told the crowd, “Merry Christmas, everybody,” then got a hug from Joel before leaving the stage.
Billy will close out 2017 with a New Year’s Eve concert in Sunrise, Florida. He recently added a 52nd show to his historic Madison Square Garden residency, scheduled for May 23, 2018.
Pre-sale tickets are available for that concert now for Citi card members via CitiPrivatePass.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 22, at 10 a.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com.
