Celebrating David Bowie tribute tour, featuring ex-Bowie sidemen and guest singers, to launch in 2018

Courtesy of CdBEarly this year, several tribute concerts dubbed Celebrating David Bowie were held in several major cities.  Each featured a variety of musicians who toured with David Bowie over the years, along with various guest artists. Now, a new Celebrating David Bowie tour featuring some of the same musicians has been lined up for next year.

The trek begins in January with six concerts in Europe, followed by a North American leg kicking off February 10 in Silver Spring, Maryland, and running through a March 11 show in Portland, Oregon.

The house band for the tour will include longtime Bowie touring and recording keyboardist Mike Garson; ex-King Crimson guitarist/singer Adrian Belew, who took part in David’s Sound & Vision Tour; and guitarist Gerry Leonard, who played on Bowie’s Heathen and A Reality tours.

In addition, one-time Bowie touring bassist Carmine Rojas will take part in the trek, as will Fishbone frontman Angelo Moore and Guatemalan singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno, both of whom also performed at previous Celebrating David Bowie events.

“The shows had a magic because our intent was to celebrate David with as much love and respect as we could,” says Garson. “So many lovely artists from all around the globe contributed, and I loved all seven shows, as each musician and artist brought their own way of self-expression.”

Tickets for the Celebrating David Bowie concerts will go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 29, at 10 a.m. local time. VIP packages will be available starting Tuesday, September 26. The shows will include a career-spanning selection of Bowie tunes.
