Former Husker Enunwa May Miss Jets’ Season With Neck Injury

Former Husker receiver Quincy Enunwa was projected to be the New York Jets’ number one receiver this season.  Instead, he has a bulging disc in his neck that will likely require surgery and sideline him for the entire season.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said yesterday that Enunwa will seek a second opinion, but the receiver is facing a recovery time of six to nine months.  The injury is not considered career-threatening, but he will be placed on injured reserve.

Enunwa was a sixth round draft pick out of Nebraska in 2014.  In 2013, he had 51 receptions for a team-high 753 yards and a school-record 12 touchdowns.  He had two TD catches in NU’s Gator Bowl win over Georgia, including one that went for a school-record 99 yards.
