The Columbus High football team’s four-game winning streak was halted emphatically by Skutt Catholic Thursday night. The Discoverers trailed 21-3 after one quarter en route to a 49-10 loss to the SkyHawks.
Third-ranked Skutt was led by I-back Curt Randall, who had ten carries for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
Both teams are now 4-2 and both open district play in Class B next Friday. The Discoverers will visit South Sioux City for the first of three B-5 district battles to finish their regular season.
In Class C-1 Friday night, Lakeview visits Scotus in a district game that could have playoff implications. The Vikings and Shamrocks both enter the contest, which will be aired on KLIR 101, with 3-2 records.
In other games on the air Friday night, Aquinas faces David City on 93.5 The Hawk. And Fullerton hosts Osceola on KZ-100. All three games have 7 p.m. kickoffs.
