Husker Nation Mourns Death of Sam Foltz

Nebraska football players, coaches and fans are mourning the death of Sam Foltz. The 22-year old punter from Greeley, Nebraska was killed in a one-car accident late Saturday night in Wisconsin.

Coach Mike Riley said Foltz was “universally loved and respected by everyone he touched and on whom he had a positive influence each and every day.”  Riley and Husker players Tommy Armstrong, Josh Banderas and Jordan Westerkamp will not participate in Big Ten Media Days Monday and Tuesday in Chicago.

Also killed was former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, who was lost control of the car on a wet road and slammed into a tree.

Foltz was voted Big Ten Punter of the Year in 2015, averaging 44.2 yards per punt. The senior graduate was recently named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List for 2016.

Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst said, “Our prayers of love and support go out to Sam’s family during this difficult time.”
