DJ Cargill Strikes Defensive Pose

Cargill sounds a disappointed tone on UK’s vote to leave EU,
saying the agricultural conglomerate “believed there were distinct advantages for the UK and member countries to remain together” in the EU. But the priority now, according to Cargill spokeswoman, will be to “ensure that our business interests are protected during the coming months, as the situation unfolds.”

Cargill’s a major supplier of chicken to the EU from its UK poultry operations and also sells food ingredients there, and the company’s global nature — doing business in about 70 countries — gives it widespread exposure to currency shifts.
