Sasse Introduces Resolution Condemning Genocide against Religious Minorities in the Middle East

Washington, D.C. — Today as the United States House of Representatives, led by Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE), considers a resolution denouncing genocide against Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East, U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) introduced companion legislation in the United States Senate.

“Freedom of religion is enshrined in America’s First Amendment— but it belongs to every man and woman around the globe. As a people blessed to live freely, we have an obligation to unequivocally repudiate atrocities committed against any of God’s children who seek merely to worship as they see fit. That starts by calling brutal violence against Christians, Yazidis, and others in the Middle East what it is—genocide.”
