The American Sheep Industry Association is accepting nominations for members to its councils and committees for the upcoming year. Council and committee members are instrumental in working for sheep producers by recommending and implementing policy that designates direction for the industry. ASI has five councils with many related committees. The councils include wool, lamb, legislative, resource management and production, education and research.
Council and committee memberships are voluntary and are appointed for one-year terms. Those interested in being nominated for re-appointment or as a new member should be a member of your state sheep association and should contact your state association to submit your name to ASI. Nominations can also be forwarded to ASI officers, regional executive board members or to Peter Orwick, email@example.com, at the ASI office. Anyone being nominated who is not currently on a council or committee should provide a short paragraph about themselves and their operation.
The executive board is interested in involving at least one younger producer on each of the councils and committees, so please encourage the nominations of those in the 20-30 year age group.
The executive board will meet in late February to finalize appointments. All nominations should to be submitted on or before Thursday, Feb. 18, to ensure consideration.
The heart and soul of ASI are the individuals who volunteer a portion of their time and energy to work on behalf of the industry. ASI is an organization for producers, run by producers!
