M_EdSheeranandELOGrammys_020915It seems like viewers weren’t just watching the Grammys on Sunday night: They also were holding their phones up to their TVs, in an attempt to identify the songs being played.

Two top music identification apps — Shazam and Soundhound — have released lists of the most tagged moments of last night’s broadcast, and the performance featuring by Jeff Lynne’s ELO with young British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeren tops both tallies.

The #1 most Shazamed moment of the evening was Lynne and his band teaming up with Sheeran on a rendition of the ELO classic “Mr. Blue Sky.”

Other veteran rock artists who made appear on the list of top 10 most-Shazamed Grammy performances include Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox, whose duet with rising alternative rock artist Hozier on Screamin’ Jay Hawkins‘ blues/rock classic “I Put a Spell on You” wound up at #6; and Paul McCartney, whose collaboration with Rihanna and Kanye West, “FourFiveSeconds,” was #7.

Taking a look at the list of top 10 “click to buy” tracks performed on the Grammys, “FourFiveSeconds” was #4, Lennox’s version of “I Put a Spell on You” was #5, Madonna‘s performance of her new tune “Living for Love” was #7, the McCartney and West collaboration “Only One” was #8 and ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” was #9.

Over at the Soundhound app, the most Soundhound’ed performance also was Lynne and ELO’s rendition of “Mr. Blue Sky” with Sheeran.  Meanwhile, Lennox was deemed the “Most Engaged” artist of the night, based on the number of people who used the Soundhound app during her performance.  Lennox also was #2 on the list of Soundhound’s “Top Engaged Artists” during the Grammys, which takes into account the amount of activity focused on an artist across various categories.  Lynne was ranked #3 on this list; Sheeren was #1.
