Columbus, NE ~~ The 19-year-old Columbus man accused of stabbing his grandmother to death last month will go to trial in January. Chase Micklevitz will face a jury trial in January, accused of second-degree murder in the death of his 58-year-old grandmother Deanna Micklevitz.
Columbus Police say Chase stabbed Deanna shortly after 1pm on July 30th at her home on 31st Street in Columbus. He then fled the scene and was apprehended around 2:40pm near Avenue Chiropractic. Deanna Micklevitz was taken to Columbus Community Hospital and then taken by life flight to Bryan LGH in Lincoln where she was pronounced dead.
Chase Micklevitz faces 20 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder charge. He also faces a charge of use of a weapon to commit a felony.
