Union Pacific Invests To Strenghten Transportation Infrastructure
Omaha, NE~~ Union Pacific Railroad will strengthen Nebraska’s transportation infrastructure by investing $39.5 million in the rail line between Clarks and Schuyler. The project, funded entirely by Union Pacific without taxpayer dollars, began May 6 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-July.
The railroad will replace 115,000 concrete railroad ties and renew the surfaces at 15 road crossings. Crews also will install 15 switches and nearly 44 miles of new rail. The project is one of nearly 1,500 that Union Pacific will complete across its 32,000-mile network this year to help improve train operating efficiency, reduce motorist wait times at crossings and enhance safety.
