Sen. Johanns wants EPA to conduct job impact analysis
Nebraska U-S Senator Mike Johanns is co-sponsoring a bill that would require the Environmental Protection Agency to follow through with a required job impact analysis of its regulations before implementing any major new rules.
Senator Johanns says back in 1977 the Clean Air Act required the administration to conduct continuing evaluations on potential job loss due to EPA regulations. Johanns asked the EPA for the results of those evaluations and was told the agency interpreted the law as the evaluations were optional rather than mandatory and had not conducted that analysis and had no intention of doing so.
Senator Johanns says business owners have reported that EPA’s ever-growing list of regulations is hampering expansion and job growth.
Senator Johanns says the if the amount of regulation implemented by the EPA is hurting the jobs market lawmakers need to know about to so a solution can be found.
