Apartment Fire Displaces Residents In Leigh

Leigh, NE~~The investigation into what caused an apartment fire in Leigh Saturday morning continues.  Leigh Fire Chief Jeff Machmueller says three engines, three tankers, and an EMS vehicle responded to the fire at 223 North Main Street just before 7:00am. 

The Clarkson Fire Department was contacted to provide mutual aid.  In all, 35 firefighters responded to the blaze. 

The fire damaged two units and displaced eight people.  One resident was transported to Columbus Community Hospital.  One firefighter also suffered minor injuries in the fire. 

The Red Cross provided assistance to the two families displaced by the fire.
