Farmers And Businesses Sue U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers

Omaha, NE~~Farmers, small businesses and other property owners along the Missouri River are filing a lawsuit against the U-S Army Corps of Engineers, seeking damages for “lost land and way of life” during river flooding from 2006 through the record flood of 2011.   The suit claims the Army Corps of Engineers changed their methods of scheduled water releases and operations of dams and reservoirs to conform with environmental laws without regard for the livelihood of those along the river, and knew the changes would lead to the river spreading out, causing substantial flooding. The suit does not assign a monetary value to the damages.
