Nebraska Farm Bureau's State Legislative Policy Committee (SLPC) met in Kearney Fri., Aug. 9 for it's annual policy session. State Sen. Tom Carlson was on hand to meet with the group to provide an update on the state's water funding task force of which Carlson serves as chair. The task force was created by the Legislature to help prioritize projects related to management of Nebraska's water resources.
In addition to the update from Sen. Carlson on the progress of the committee, Farm Bureau leaders heard updates from State Sen. Ken Schilz of Ogallala on brand issues, and livestock development opportunities from Willow Holoubek with the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture (A-FAN). Leaders also learned about endangered species issues from Mark Peyton with Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District and Mark Czaplewski with the Central Platte NRD.
