GREENWOOD, Neb. (AP) - A Cass County Sheriff's deputy and a woman he had stopped to help were injured when a truck slid into them during a winter storm.Sheriff William Brueggemann says the accident happened Saturday afternoon near Greenwood on Interstate 80. The sheriff said Deputy Randy Wilkins had stopped to help 20-year-old Cara Delp of Elkhorn, whose car had slid off the interstate.
Soon after Wilkins stopped, a pickup lost control on the interstate, hitting both Wilkins and Delp.
Delp was taken to an Omaha hospital is serious condition. Wilkins was taken to a Lincoln hospital, where he was held overnight. A release from the sheriff's office says Wilkins did not appear to have any serious injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the collision.
