2-1-12, FREMONT, Neb. (AP) - A Labrador retriever is recuperating after surgery in Fremont to remove a mass from its stomach from eating a small bottle of glue. The dog, named Cali, chewed up a 2-ounce bottle of Gorilla Glue on Jan. 19. The glue expanded into a hard foam ball, about 5 to 6 inches in diameter, in the dog's stomach.
Cali's owner brought her to Dr. Mark Pettit at the Animal Medical Clinic. He has treated dogs that ate rocks, socks and even a bag of twisty ties, but nothing like this.
Pettit successfully removed the mass on Jan. 20, and sent Cali home the next day.
Cali has a good prognosis, and Petit hopes the case will create owner awareness.
