Fire blackens prairie land near Bartlett



1-27-12, BARTLETT, Neb. (AP) — A fire has blackened more than 1,000 acres of prairie land north of Bartlett in north-central Nebraska.
 
O'Neill radio station KBRX says the fire began about noon Thursday and was extinguished around 5pm
 
No buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported.
 
Fire officials suspect the blaze began after winds fanned a spark from a managed burn.
Fire crews from 11 departments fought the flames.
