One celebration held each year in honor of our Ag Producers is the Rural Recognition Banquet, which is scheduled for February 13 this year. The Banquet will be held at Ag Park, Columbus. It is sponsored by the Agri-Business Committee of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets for the event are $20. Complimentary tickets are available for all Ag producers. Tickets are available at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Office. Call 564-2769 to place your order for tickets.
The Banquet honors Ag Leaders in the Columbus Community. This year the Chamber Agri-Business Committee will honor the following with their annual awards: QC Supply will receive the Agribusiness Pioneer Award, Arnie Stuthman has been named Outstanding Senior Farmer, Dr. Nila Novotny is Outstanding Woman in Agriculture, and Dan Lutjens & Tom Lutjens will receive the Outstanding Area Farmers award.
The keynote speaker is R.P. Smith, Cowboy Poet and humorist. R.P. raises cattle on the Pine Crest Ranch near Broken Bow. He “supports his ranching habit” by performing with some of the biggest names in western entertainment. I had the chance to hear R.P speak recently; we are really in for a treat that evening. I hope you all make plans to celebrate with us.
The Platte County 4-H Council also presents awards during the program. 4-H Leader Years of Service, Friends of 4-H, and the 4-H Meritorious adult winners are recognized as well as the Diamond Clover Awards which will be presented to deserving 4-H members.
The Annual Rural Recognition Banquet is a special event, a true celebration of Agriculture in our Area. I hope you will make plans to attend.
