On Tuesday, January 24, there are three educational programs being offered at the Farm Show which will be at Ag Park, Columbus. Nitrogen Management Training and Certification at 10:00 a.m., Pesticide Applicator Training at 1:00 p.m. and Chemigation Training and Testing starting at 3:30 p.m. With questions about who should attend any of those meetings, call Aaron Nygren, Colfax County Extension, 402-352-3821.

One of the presentations at the local Farm Show January 25th, will be on Landlord/Tenant Considerations for Farmland Leases. The main purpose is to help with establishing and maintaining positive farm leasing relationships. The second focus will be to discuss Flexible Cash Leases. You can attend this free 2 hour presentation on Wednesday, January 25, 1:00 p.m., Club Room, Ag Park, Columbus.

Topics for discussion include: 1) Expectations from the lease, including goal setting for the rental property; 2) Lease communication, determining appropriate information sharing for both the tenant and landlord; 3) Alternative cash lease arrangements, flexible provision considerations for your situation.

Allan Vyhnalek, UNL Extension Educator, Platte County, and Tim Lemmons, UNL Extension Educator, are the presenters. Common sense tips will be provided during the presentation. It is very helpful if both the tenant and landlord can attend together.

Putting together the right lease isn’t about what is being discussed at the coffee shop, or what a University survey of cash lease rates says; it is about what fits both the landlord and tenant for their circumstance and situation. Attending this presentation will provide a set of ideas to work from as those specifics are discussed.

As a reminder, the second Pesticide Applicator Training will be held at 9:30 a.m. on January 25.
All sessions are in the Club Room, Ag Park, Columbus. There is no preregistration needed to attend any of the Farm Show Educational Opportunities.
