GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - Grand Island police have identified a suspect in the October sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl, and an arrest warrant has been issued.
26-year-old Abraham Richardson is suspected of removing the girl from her apartment and sexually assaulting. Someone walking by interrupted the assault and the suspect fled through a cornfield.
Police said Tuesday that the investigation into the Oct. 2 assault at an apartment complex moved slowly because lab tests had to be done on physical evidence.
But investigators believed there wasn't any threat to the public because Richardson has been jailed since Oct. 20 while facing federal child pornography charges.
Richardson's federal public defender didn't immediately respond to a message Tuesday.
