Surprise! Dierks Bentley Is This Summer's Hottest New Country Headliner

ABC News RadioDierks Bentley has been a staple at country radio for more than a decade now, so it may shock you to learn he's just now stepped into the role of headlining his own major tour this year. While he's co-headlined a trek with Miranda Lambert, Dierks is now playing to the biggest audiences of his career on the Riser Tour. This career development is something of a mystery for Dierks."I don’t know how the hell I’m here, really, but something’s happening," Dierks tells Billboard. "Ten years into my career, I’m headlining these places, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, man. It’s been a great climb. A slow climb.”That climb got a big boost from Dierks' runaway summer hit, "Drunk on a Plane." It's such a highlight of his set, Dierks keeps pushing it back to later in the show.  He says, “It started off like fourth in the set list, then we moved it down to about sixth, then eighth, and now it’s down pretty far towards the bottom. It could be the bottom if I wanted it to be, it’s that big of a song."Dierks on the road with the Riser tour into the fall.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Cole Swindell 's Overnight Success Was Seven Years In the Making

Image Courtesy Warner Music NashvilleCole Swindell may seem like an overnight success, scoring a #1 hit with his debut single, "Chillin' It," but he spent seven years in Nashville before his music was ever played on country radio. During that time, Cole was busy writing songs and trying to get his music heard. In hindsight, he's thankful for that time to grow as a writer and learn how the country industry really works.Cole tells the Cincinnati Enquirer, "If this would have happened when I moved to Nashville there's no way I would have been ready, but giving it a couple of years with me being around the business, growing up a little bit, that helped me get ready for everything that's happened."It's not that Cole doesn't feel the pressure to continue cranking out hit songs and improving his live show.  He adds, "There's a lot of people expecting things out of me. I want to do good. It's a good kind of pressure."Cole's latest single, "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight," is now racing up the country chart. His self-titled debut album is available now.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Brad Paisley Salutes Ellen DeGeneres and Women Everywhere with New Song, "Shatte

Image Courtesy Arista NashvilleBrad Paisley teamed up with Ellen DeGeneres Wednesday to premiere the lyric video for his new song, "Shattered Glass," on Ellen's YouTube channel. Brad was inspired to write the song thinking about women,  like his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Ellen, continuing to break through barriers and overcome challenges they face in male-dominated businesses. That sentiment is heard clearly in the song's hook: "All you've been through ain't in vain/Come on baby, make it rain down shattered glass."Brad tells ABC News Radio, "I sat down to write this as the ultimate pat on the back and sky's the limit-type song."Brad sees Ellen DeGeneres as a great example of a woman who has broken down big barriers in Hollywood and the country at large. After publicly coming out as a lesbian on her '90s sitcom Ellen, DeGeneres has gone on to host her own highly-influential talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, host the Oscars and win 13 Emmy Awards.Brad tells us, "I admire the fact that she has used her career to entertain people and to do a lot of good things, and yet, the odds were totally against her becoming the most powerful person in Hollywood, and that's what I think she is now. She's such a good case for anybody has a shot at really making a difference, you know.""Shattered Glass" is included on Brad's new album, Moonshine in the Trunk, coming out Monday. Image Courtesy Mark Peterson/Food Network MagazineTrisha Yearwood has been one very busy woman lately. As she gears up to hit the road with hubby Garth Brooks on September 4, Trisha is also completing work on her new album, PrizeFighter. The project will be her first for RCA Nashville, which is also Garth's new label home. Trisha performed two songs from the album, "Your Husband's Cheating on Us" and "I Remember You," at an industry event to celebrate the new music Tuesday in Nashville.Describing the title track to PrizeFighter, Trisha says, "It's a song on the album that is about beating the odds and winning and fighting no matter what. I think it's a message we all need to hear."Trisha didn't announce a release date for PrizeFighter at Tuesday's event. The announcement of new music comes more than two decades after Trisha first hit the country scene with "She's in Love with the Boy." Back when she signed her first record deal at age 26, Trisha compared her singing career to that of a pro baseball player."I thought, you know, these guys come out and they have their time and they have a few good years, and they have to know when they can't swing the bat anymore," Trisha says. "It's been 23 years since that first single, and I'm just not ready to stop swinging the bat."In addition to the new music, Trisha is also kicking off the fifth season of her Emmy-winning Food Network show Trisha's Southern Kitchen this Saturday. Country Stars Rock Out on New Motley Crue Tribute Album, "Nashville Outlaws"

Image Courtesy Big Machine Label GroupFlorida Georgia Line, Darius Rucker, Brantley Gilbert and several other country stars salute heavy metal legends Motley Crue on the new tribute album, Nashville Outlaws. The project is in stores and online Tuesday featuring the lead single, Justin Moore's collaboration with Motley Crue's Vince Neil on "Home Sweet Home." Even though it has a rock edge, Justin says, "This sounds like a Justin Moore song. I mean it doesn't matter where the song originated from whether it was rap or rock or pop or country or whatever, this song is right down, you know, my wheelhouse."Florida Georgia Line took on the Crue song "If I Die Tomorrow" for the project. Looking back on their recording session for that song, FGL's Brian Kelley says, "[It was a] pretty cool experience to be a part of that album. It felt like magic that day we were in the studio."Rascal Flatts contributed a version of "Kickstart My Heart," and the band's Jay DeMarcus was very impressed with lead singer Gary LeVox's vocals on the song.Jay tells ABC News Radio, "Gary was the perfect singer for that song, too, because not a lot of people can scream and sing as high as Vince Neil did, you know."Jay goes on to say the Flatts put their own stamp on the song. He explains, "The rule of thumb usually is, if you can't outdo the original, you shouldn't touch it."Darius Rucker didn't even try to compete with the Motley Crue's version of "Time for Change" when he went in to record it for Nashville Outlaws."We said we're gonna start this record like we've never heard the song before," Darius says. "You know, we pretended we didn't know it,  and just went down to the basics and came up with something that I'm really proud of."Cassadee Pope, Eli Young Band, LeAnn Rimes and Big & Rich are among the other artists featured on Nashville Outlaws.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
