Jon Pardi Credits His Grandma's Karaoke Machine for Kickstarting His Love for Mu

CMACountry newcomer Jon Pardi probably wouldn't have pursued a career in music if it wasn't for his grandmother's karaoke machine. She used to watch him sing for hours when he was a kid growing up in Dixon, CA.Jon tells The Sacramento Bee, "She just loved to sing. We'd play Garth Brooks tracks or George Strait tracks, and we'd sing along. It was fun."Jon eventually picked up the guitar and began writing songs before moving to Nashville a few years ago. Now, he's signed to the same record label as Strait, and the two got to hang out for a little bit earlier this month at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas."For five minutes I had a conversation with him, and he was so cool," Jon says of George. "Talk about a guy who’s conquered it all, but still so level-headed. I always looked up to him before that, but I look up to him even more now."Jon recently shot the video for his latest single, "What I Can't Put Down." Look for that clip to premiere in the coming weeks.Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Hunter Hayes Not Ready to Reveal Who Is Inspiring the Love Songs on Upcoming Alb

He's just not ready to reveal exactly who inspired those songs just yet. When asked why he keeps his personal life under wraps, Hunter explains, "I've bared my soul on this record. That's my choice for my life. Anyone that is connected to me doesn't necessarily make those choices, so I guess I just -- I respect them."It doesn't look like Hunter will reveal the name of anyone he's dating until things turn pretty serious in the relationship. He adds, "They don't ask to be written about and they don't ask to be talked about in interviews. So, I just kind of prefer to respect that, until otherwise noted -- until otherwise it feels like that's right."For now, it seems the main love in Hunter's life remains his music."Seriously, it does come down to me just being pretty boring," Hunter says. "I mean, the only thing for me to really talk about is music, and that's fine with me."Hunter's new album, Storyline, is due out May 6 featuring his latest single, "Invisible."Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

We like hanging out and that's kind of how it started out."In addition to making music together, Dan and Shay love watching movies during their downtime on the road. Shay's a huge fan of comedies like Anchorman, while Dan prefers blockbusters like The Dark Knight Rises. They find some middle ground on horror movies though.Dan says, "We're always like, 'You wanna watch a horror film?' That's our thing. But I love The Ring. That's a scary one. It still holds up. I'm still terrified of that one."Shay adds, "We'll have to watch The Ring pretty soon. We're actually gonna screen it instead of performing. We're just gonna watch The Ring. It's gonna be fun."In all seriousness, Dan + Shay will be singing songs from their just-released debut album, Where It All Began, Thursday night in Huntsville, AL.Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
