Woman Attacked By Dog In Columbus

Columbus, NE~~Columbus Animal Control and the Columbus Police Department continue to investigate an incident where an elderly woman was bitten by a dog. 

Authorities say a 74-year-old woman was attacked and bitten by an adult German Shepherd in the area of 26th Street and Pershing Road around 630 Thursday morning.  The dog was on a leash, but the leash was not attached to anything. 

The victim received three punctures to her elbow and was taken to Columbus Community Hospital where she was treated and released.  The dog’s owner has cooperated fully with authorities.  The dog is in quarantine at a local veterinary clinic for at least 10 days which is required by state law.
