Train derailment near Monroe causes traffic delays



MONROE,Neb. - A minor train derailment caused delays along Highway 22 near Monroe.

According to a dispatcher at Nebraska Central Railroad, two cars of a 134 car train derailed around 10:30am Sunday. No injures were report but the train blocked several crossings until the derailment was cleared.

The Platte County  Sheriff's Department helped with traffic control, blocking Highway 22 at Oconee until clean up crews from Norfolk arrived.

Nebraska Central Railroad says the derailment was cleared by around 3pm Sunday. The cause of the derailment has not yet been reported.
