Columbus, NE~~The Columbus Mayor’s Roundtable lasted just over an hour last night at the City Council Chambers. Superintendent of Columbus Public Schools Dr. Troy Loeffelholz filled the audience in on plans for a proposed new high school in Columbus. If the new school were to be approved, the middle school would be moved to the current high school location, keeping the middle school in a central location within the city. In addition, Loeffelholz laid out plans on how the project would be funded. The Columbus Public Schools Board of Education is set to meet Thursday morning to further discuss the project. Interim City Engineer Merlin Lindahl and City Administrator Joe Mangiamelli also spoke at the roundtable, giving updates on current and proposed road construction and infrastructure projects.
