NECC Opens Residence Halls To Tornado Victims



Norfolk, NE~~Northeast Community College is opening a portion of its residence halls and student apartments on its Norfolk campus to residents of Stanton County, who were displaced by tornadoes that ravaged the area Monday.

Northeast President Dr. Michael Chipps said the College wants to do what it can to assist the victims who either lost their homes or suffered extensive damage.

Residents who seek short-term shelter on campus will be provided vouchers by the College’s food service provider, Chartwells, which will allow them to eat at Hawks Landing in the Northeast Student Center.

Residents who need housing assistance are asked to call the Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross in Norfolk at (402) 371-0393.

In addition, proceeds from Northeast Community College’s 31st Annual Northeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Games will be donated to a relief fund set up by Midwest Bank to assist in the recovery efforts in Pilger.
