Justin Bieber's Beverly Hills Parties Draw Attention of Police

Jeffrey R. Staab/CBS(BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.) -- Justin Bieber is grabbing the attention of police yet again.Beverly Hills Police responded to six calls last weekend from Bieber's neighbors complaining of loud parties and disruptive fans, police told ABC News.Four of the calls were related to parties at the singer's Beverly Hills, California condo, as well as the rooftop of his complex on July 19 and 20, while two more calls were in regard to his fans on the sidewalk, police said.Police would like the singer, 20, to calm down if he's going to live in their city.“We enforce the laws of Beverly Hills and we will, of course, respond when neighbors call," Beverly Hills Police Department Sgt. Matt Subin said. "We request that if Mr. Bieber has these parties that he tone it down. We always look at the circumstances, and if the party is too loud we will ask him to please turn down the music and/or shut down the party.”Subin added that Bieber has cooperated when they show up and that "he does turn down the music.""But it is often a cat-and-mouse game," Subin said. "We are reaching out to his staff to advise them of certain penalties of the party calls that we are receiving in the hopes we can work together to eliminate these calls. We request he is a good neighbor of Beverly Hills. We want him to be respectful to his neighbor’s wishes, as he is again in a condo that is densely populated in close proximity of other residents.”In the end, Bieber was not cited, just given verbal warnings. These incidents were Bieber's latest in a string of run-ins with the law, including an alleged egging incident in January to which the singer pleaded no contest, got probation and was required to attend an anger management course.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Peaches Geldof Died of Heroin Overdose, Coroner Rules

Ian Gavan/Getty Images(LONDON) -- A coroner has ruled that Peaches Geldof died of a heroin overdose, according to the BBC, which attended the inquest in Britain Wednesday. The TV presenter and daughter of musician Bob Geldof had been a heroin addict and was taking the substitute drug methadone for two-and-a-half years before her death, but had apparently begun using heroin again. The 25-year-old was found by her husband, Tom Cohen, slumped in a spare room of the home they shared in Wrotham, Kent, on April 7. He had been away with the older of their two sons, Astala, leaving Peaches Geldof at home with their 11-month old son, Phaedra.Geldof was pronounced dead at the scene.Police later found 6.9 grams of heroin in the house. A syringe containing the fatal dose was discovered hidden in a box of candy next to the bed.Cohen told the inquest looking into Geldof’s death that his wife had begun using the drug again earlier this year in February, according to the BBC.He said he witnessed her flushing drugs down the toilet but was unaware of other drugs in the house until they were found by police.Cohen added that his wife had taken weekly drug tests since seeking treatment for her addiction two years ago, but he now believes that she lied about the tests being negative.According to the BBC, pathologist Peter Jerreat said the levels of heroin in Geldof’s body were in a “fatal range.” Traces of codeine, methadone and morphine were also found in her blood. The pathologist also noted that puncture wounds were found on Geldof’s body on her elbows, wrists and thumbs.“It’s said that the death of Peaches Geldof-Cohen is history repeating itself but this not entirely so,” coroner Roger Hatch said at the inquest, according to the BBC.Geldof’s mother, Paula Yates, died of a heroin overdose at the age of 41 when Peaches was 11 years old.“By November last year, she had ceased to take heroin as a result of the considerable treatment and counseling that she had received,” Hatch said. “This was a significant achievement for her but, for reasons we will never know, prior to her death she returned to taking heroin.”Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Octavia Spencer Says It's OK NBC Pulled the Plug on "Murder, She Wrote" Reboot

ABC/MICHAEL DESMOND(NEW YORK) -- Octavia Spencer said she's fine that her NBC show, Murder, She Wrote, a reboot of the original starring Angela Lansbury, got scrapped. The news came after Lansbury said the project was a "mistake.""Everything happens for a reason," Spencer told E! News. "You know, that would not have been the right fit for me...I think things happen as they're supposed to. I am a detective and curious person by nature, that's who I am and I always thought that's who I wanted to play. But when you're on a television show, it's a marriage and when you take that vow to be on a series for seven years, it should be something that you want to see and a character you want to learn about, and with a group of people that you want to see for the next seven years."The Oscar winner instead will star in Fox's new series Red Band Society as Nurse Jackson. The dramedy centers on a group of teenagers living in a hospital."For me, I am an actress. There are only certain archetypes that people have allowed me to play: The nurturer, the caregiver, the sad mom, the distraught mom, and I kind of didn't want to be just that," Spencer said. "I wanted a character that I could grow with in a situation that I felt would be something that contributed to the world. Report: How Joss Whedon Assembled "Avengers"

The Walt Disney Company/Marvel Comics(NEW YORK) -- While the screenplay credits to Marvel's The Avengers feature the names of Zak Penn and director Joss Whedon, an upcoming book about the quintessential geek filmmaker details just what Whedon thought of the original script."I don't think you have anything," Whedon reportedly told Marvel President Kevin Feige, according to the upcoming Joss Whedon: The Biography, which hits stores Aug. 1. "You need to pretend this draft never happened."In an interview with GQ, Whedon said as much, telling the magazine, "There was a script...There just wasn't a script I was going to film a word of."Instead, Whedon re-wrote the script completely, adapting the Marvel comics story lines he knew so well into the blockbuster the movie became.According to the book, which was excerpted in Business Insider, Whedon's blueprint was five pages of material centering on the tagline: "The Avengers: Some Assembly Required" -- a take on the comics' well-known "Avengers Assemble" slogan. Penn, meanwhile, lamented not being more involved, telling GQ, "We could have collaborated more, but that was not his choice. He wanted to do it his way, and I respect that. I mean, it's not like on the Hulk, where I got replaced [as a writer] by...lead actor [Edward Norton]. That was a weird one."Whedon's outline also detailed the infighting between the disparate heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and The Hulk, and how they had to put aside their differences in order to defeat Loki, Thor's trickster adopted brother -- the inclusion of which was also a Whedon "must have."Joss' take on Loki -- and actor Tom Hiddleston's delivery of Whedon's words -- became a fan favorite. After Whedon's movie became a global blockbuster, Marvel reportedly retained him to consult on other movies,  and he did rewrites of another hit, Thor: The Dark World.Whedon is currently filming the 2015 sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens next May.  Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

San Diego Comic-Con About to Blast Off

iStock Editorial/Thinkstock(SAN DIEGO) -- The high holiday of geekdom is almost here -- Comic-Con International: San Diego starts Thursday, though the festivities kick off with preview night on Wednesday.Chris Hardwick is the founder of pop-culture outlet Nerdist, and his geek cred also boasts hosting @Midnight on Comedy Central, as well as AMC's Talking Dead. Not surprisingly, he's become the go-to guy to moderate the major Comic-Con celebrity Q&A panels, which break news on upcoming projects and for which diehards wait in line for hours to witness the bleeding edge of pop culture news. This year he's the ringleader for panels from Marvel, Warner Bros., The Walking Dead, and more.So what's it like to be on stage in the fabled Hall H in front of 7,000 fans, giving them sneak peeks that often make them cry?He tells ABC News Radio, "There's nothing like the experience of being on stage in Hall H and they're showing some footage that people have never seen before, and the stage is rattling, and everyone just loses their mind...[T]here's no other energy like that that I can imagine anywhere else."Considering his pop-culture bona fides, however, Hardwick explains he's not privy to many spoilers ahead of time. Marvel, for example, will have a huge presence at this year's Comic-Con, though Hardwick says he doesn't know who's going to be on their panel or what will be revealed: "...[T]hose are all things I'll find out like the night before," he tells ABC News Radio. "You know, we'll do sort of a walk-through of what the panel's going to be. But I don't know anything yet." Why Jessica Alba Had a 'Freak-Out' Moment When She Turned 30

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) -- Jessica Alba looks as good at 33 years old as she did back when she was 20, maybe even better. But the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For actress said when she hit the big 3-0, she had a bit of a moment."I had this 'Aaagh!' I'm not in my 20s anymore! What does it all mean?' kind of freak-out," she told SELF magazine for its August cover, which hits newsstands on July 29. "[But] I feel much better at 33 than I did at 23, even than I did at 30."The next obvious question is how does she look so good at 33 after two daughters Honor, 6, and Haven, 2."I hate working out. It's boring!" she told the magazine. "I really only did it when I had a job that was physically demanding. But from age 17 until I was 27, all I did were movies that were physically demanding -- so all I did was work out all the time!”The Sin City star also revealed how she is passing down her healthy philosophy to her kids."We eat mostly lean protein and fresh fruit and vegetables, nothing processed or from a box, if we can," she said. "For me, when I don’t eat a ton of carbs, I have more energy. But I'll for sure have a piece of chocolate. I will mow through a bowl of guacamole. If I'm not going to have dessert, I'll have a martini."Finally, the actress dished on her secret to happy marriage with her husband Cash Warren."You’ve got to have the girls' night out to complain about your husband or whatever it is," she said. "Guardians of the Galaxy" Cast Takes on 5-Year-Old Marvel Fan on "Kimmel"

Buena Vista(LOS ANGELES) -- On Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jimmy welcomed Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, the stars of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The gang -- bound for the movie's premiere that took place across the street after the late-night show taped -- also took on Mia Grace, a 5-year-old Marvel trivia fanatic.Because Diesel and Cooper separately voiced their respective computer-generated characters, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, they explained they'd just met for the first time backstage at Kimmel. For his part, Pratt, the star of Parks and Recreation and famous for supporting roles in movies like Zero Dark Thirty and Her, steps into leading man territory in Guardians, thanks to his character Peter Quill/Star-Lord. Pratt insists he had too much fun as the dual pistol-wielding thief-turned hero -- sometimes at the expense of the film's budget."I would shoot this gun...and over and over again they kept yelling cut, because...during the take I'd was going [makes gun sounds]. I was like, 'Come on, that felt really good to me!' And they'd were like, 'That just cost us 150 thousand dollars. Stop with making the noise with your mouth!'"On the red carpet in front of the El Capitan Theatre, Pratt remarked that Guardians is unique. "It's comedy, drama, action, all which works simultaneously in a weird way that I don't think has ever been done before," he explained, before commenting that the role brings things full circle for him. "I'm excited for kids to pretend they're Peter Quill in their backyard, like I did with all these heroes when I was a kid."Glenn Close, who plays interstellar top cop Nova Prime, said the production was "180 degrees different" from her 2012 period piece Albert Nobbs, "but really fun in its own way." Court Docs: Philip Seymour Hoffman Did Not Want ''Trust Fund' Kids'

Valerie Macon/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Philip Seymour Hoffman didn't want his children living off of his success. The actor opted not to set aside money for his kids, reports the New York Post, citing recently filed court documents. The papers state the Oscar winner "did not want his children to be considered 'trust fund' kids." Hoffman, who died of a drug overdose at the age of 46 in February, is survived by three children: Willa, who is 5; Tallulah, who is 7; and Cooper, who is 10.Court-appointed attorney James Cahill Jr., who was brought in to protect the interests of Hoffman’s kids in his estate proceeding, recently interviewed the late actor's accountant, David Friedman.Cahill says in the Manhattan Surrogate’s Court filing that Friedman told him he "recalled conversations with [Hoffman] in the year before his demise where the topic of a trust was raised for the kids and summarily rejected by him."Instead, Hoffman wanted his estimated $35 million fortune to go to his longtime girlfriend and the kids' mother, Mimi O'Donnell. According to the filing, Friedman said Hoffman told him he believed O'Donnell would "take care of the children."Cahill also noted in the filing that "Friedman also advised that he observed Hoffman treating his partner/girlfriend…in the same manner as if she were a spouse."  Hoffman explained to the accountant that he "simply did not believe in marriage."Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Rachel McAdams Was 'in Awe' of Lindsay Lohan's Talent on "Mean Girls" Set

Paramount(NEW YORK) -- Ten years ago, Lindsay Lohan's career was on fire ahead of her acclaimed performance in Mean Girls, and her co-star Rachel McAdams noticed. The actress tells the August issue of Allure she thinks it's odd to hear that director Mark Waters says LiLo was apparently intimidated by her on set."If anything, I was in awe of her talent," McAdams recalled. "I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It's just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we've got it together."Before the release of Mean Girls, McAdams appeared in the Rob Schneider comedy The Hot Chick, in which she performed a striptease -- a challenge for her. She says, "I just remember breathing deep and thinking, Oh, my God, I have to go out there and do this striptease, as a man…as a woman. How did I get here?"She continues, "It was probably one of the scariest moments I've had in my career. It stretched me in ways I could never have imagined." The "Bachelorette," Andi Dorfman, was interviewed, but she didn't discuss either finalist.During her relatively brief appearance, Andi addressed the bachelors she sent home during the previous two episodes: Chris Soules and Marcus Grodd. She told Chris, who was dismissed last week, that while the hometown visit to his farm in Iowa was her favorite, she just didn't feel there was a foundation in their romance that would even lead her to consider living a rural life with him.As for Marcus, she appreciated his honesty, but she wasn't on the same page as he was. Don't feel too badly for Marcus, though -- he's one of the stars of Bachelor in Paradise, the new spin-off that premieres in two weeks.Andi spent several minutes learning some of the results of the lie detector test that was administered to several guys on a group date in Italy. She also denied rumors that she's pregnant. In the most bizarre moment of "The Men Tell All," a female audience member from Canada named Petra interrupted host Chris Harrison's interview with Chris the farmer, hoping to ask a question. She joined Chris Soules on the couch and asked him if he thinks he'll ever find love in Iowa, then admitted she'd like to date him. They chatted a little, though it remains to be seen whether Chris Soules will actually make Petra's dream come true. Before Andi emerged from backstage, there was a somewhat-heated exchange regarding JJ's claim from earlier in the season that Andrew used an offensive term to describe the African-American contestants on the show. Andrew denied he'd use the term, and said the claim had affected his personal life.Marquel, who is African-American, said it was hurtful to him that he didn't know whether the allegation was true, though he said he took JJ at his word.Interestingly, no mention was made of Eric Hill, the contestant who died in a paragliding accident following his elimination. The special ended rather cryptically, with Harrison delivering a letter from one of the finalists to Andi in her dressing room. Andi stared at the note, but it's unclear -- for now -- whether she read it."The Men Tell All" began with an appearance by former Bachelorette star Ashley Hebert and her husband, J.P. Rosenbaum, who are expecting a child in October. A sonogram performed on the show revealed they're having a boy.Next Monday night, The Bachelorette season concludes with Andi potentially deciding between Ben and Josh in the Dominican Republic.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
