Palmer’s 34 Points Leads NU over Rutgers

James Palmer Jr. tied a career-high with 34 points and Nebraska beat Rutgers 68-61 in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament.

Palmer scored 27 points in the second half, including five during a game-changing 15-0 run that gave the Huskers a 61-51 lead with 1:30 remaining.  Palmer’s 34 points was just one point shy of the Big Ten tourney record.

NU, now 17-15, will play fifth-seeded and 21st-ranked Maryland today.  The pre-game coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. with tipoff close to 2 p.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK.
