CCC Working To Introduce More Girls To Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Skills

COLUMBUS- This summer, Central Community College will join Verizon Innovative Learning, the education initiative of the Verizon Foundation, to introduce more girls, especially those in rural parts of the country, to science, technology, engineering and math skills.

Kicking off this summer with a three-week intensive learning experience, 50 girls from middle schools in the Columbus and Schuyler areas and 50 girls from middle schools in the Hastings area will attend courses at the local CCC campuses in augmented and virtual reality, coding, 3D design, entrepreneurship and design thinking principles.

Entrepreneurship Center director at CCC-Columbus, Doris Lux said the experience will expose girls to fields of study they may not have considered before.
