Scotus and Humphrey St. Francis both had impressive wins in Thursday’s quarterfinals of the girls state basketball tournament.
The Shamrocks posted a 49-32 C1 victory over Wahoo, while the Flyers dominated Riverside 68-41 in Class D2. The win improved Scotus’ record to 20-5. St. Francis is now 25-2. The Chargers wound up 14-12.
In the D1 quarterfinal, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family’s fourth quarter rally came up just short in a 67-64 loss to North Central. Taya Beller’s running 3-pointer after a steal boxed in-and-out at the buzzer as the Bulldogs’ season at 21-5.
In today’s girls’ semifinals, Scotus battles Mitchell at 10:45 a.m. on KLIR and Humphrey St. Francis faces Exeter-Milligan at 8:45 p.m. on KZ-100.
