Maroon 5's heading to their “second home” for New Year's Eve

Travis SchneiderMaroon 5 is heading to Las Vegas this weekend for their annual New Year’s Eve concerts: they’ll do two shows December 30 and 31, and then host a private New Year’s Eve party for all their pals.  But guitarist James Valentine says the band hasn’t forgotten the October 1 massacre in Vegas — launched from their favorite venue — that left nearly 60 music fans dead.

“Yeah, Las Vegas has become like a second home for us with all the concerts and events that we play there, so this tragedy absolutely gutted us,” James tells ABC Radio.  “And Mandalay Bay has been somewhere we’ve played for the last five or so New Year’s Eves.”

This year, the band will once again be performing at Mandalay Bay, and it’ll be the first chance fans will get to hear songs from their new album Red Pill Blues live.  The band’s tour in support of the album, which has already produced the massive hit “What Lovers Do,” gets underway May 30 in Tacoma, WA.
