The Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company postponed its scheduled concert tonight in New Orleans because singer/guitarist John Mayer was admitted to the hospital in need of an emergency appendectomy, according to a tweet from the band.
“Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” reads the message. As of noon Tuesday, there was no further word on Mayer’s condition.
A statement from a Dead & Company rep adds, “All tickets for the December 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at point of purchase.”
Not counting the New Orleans show, Dead & Company have two more concerts left on their current tour — this Thursday in Orlando, Florida, and Friday in Sunrise, Florida.
