Rod Stewart will be joining in on the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans next year.
According to NOLA.com, the legendary singer has been added to the lineup for the 2018 Endymion Extravaganza, a celebration taking place following the Endymion Mardi Gras parade in the Big Easy. Hip-hop/R&B artist Jason Derulo also will perform at the event.
The parade, staged by the Krewe of Endymion, is the largest Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans. A “krewe” is a local word for an organization that stages parades.
Endymion founder and captain Ed Muniz says Stewart might also ride a float in the parade if the weather is good. The parade’s theme will be “Jazz — Our Gift to the World.”
The Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, February 10, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Among the many other artists who have taken part in the event over the years are Alice Cooper, KC and the Sunshine Band, Neil Sedaka, Captain & Tennille, Kool & the Gang, Tom Jones, The Righteous Brothers, The Four Tops, Roy Orbison, Smokey Robinson, Hall & Oates, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Chicago, Natalie Cole, The Beach Boys, Stephen Stills, Huey Lewis, Donna Summer, The Pointer Sisters, Journey, Styx, Al Green, The Go-Go’s, The Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pat Benatar and Steven Tyler.
