Nebraska football coach Mike Riley said today losing defensive backs Chris Jones and JoJo Domann to injuries this offseason “is not good.” Riley publicly discussed the injury situation for the first time today at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago.
Jones is out 4-6 months after having knee surgery earlier this month. Domann went down with a knee injury during spring practice and could return by October.
Riley said he’s excited about the “next man up” option, which would mean a big opportunity for the likes of sophomore Eric Lee Jr. and redshirt freshman Dicaprio Bootle.
Some good news on the Huskers injury front – Riley said linebackers Alex Davis and Avery Roberts have recovered from injuries and will be ready for the start of fall practices on Sunday.
