Two Columbus American Legion Baseball teams have bowed out of their area tournaments, while another is still alive.
The Columbus Cornerstone Insurance Group Seniors were knocked out of their area tourney at South Sioux City yesterday. The Seniors were downed by Gretna 13-3.
It was the Seniors’ second loss to Gretna in the tournament. Sandwiched in between was a win over Norfolk on Saturday as the Seniors went 1-2.
In the Junior area tournament at Gretna, the Columbus United Federal Credit Union Junior Blues edged Norfolk 5-4 yesterday to improve to 2-1 and move into tonight’s semifinals against top-seeded Grand Island Five Points Bank.
The Strategic Legacy Advisors Junior Reds went 0-2 in the double elimination event, losing to the Junior Blues on Friday and to Grand Island Dinsdale Auto on Saturday.
