Nebraska senior cornerback Chris Jones was named today to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top defensive back.
Jones earned the recognition after a solid junior campaign in 2016. He totaled 37 tackles, including 33 solo stops, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.
Jones joins two other Huskers named to watch lists this week. Offensive tackle Nick Gates is on the Outland Trophy list, while kicker Drew Brown made the Groza watch list.
