As the 2017 Lockn’ Music Festival approaches, more special performances have been announced for the jam-heavy extravaganza. Among the latest additions to the fest, which runs from August 24 to August 27, will be a guest appearances by Heart‘s Ann Wilson and founding Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna guitarist Jorma Kaukonen.
Wilson will join Gov’t Mule at the Warren Haynes-fronted group’s performance on August 25, while Kaukonen will hit the stage with Moonalice, a band featuring longtime Jefferson Starship bassist Pete Sears, on August 27. In addition, founding Grateful Dead singer/guitarist Bob Weir, who already was scheduled to perform with Dead bassist Phil Lesh and his Terrapin Family Band on August 25, also will team up with roots-rockers The Avett Brothers on August 27.
The festival also is offering several special performances for those who purchase “Super VIP” passes. These include Weir and Lesh playing an hour-long set as a duo on August 25, and Kaukonen performing solo on August 27.
The Lockn’ Festival’s previously announced lineup includes an August 26 performance by John Fogerty, and, on August 27, a set by Lesh’s Phil Lesh & Friends collective and a collaboration billed as phil.moe that will feature Lesh playing with veteran jam band moe.
