DUNCAN- Early Monday morning a van parked at a railroad crossing was struck by a train 2 miles east of Duncan.
At approximately 5:25am the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving the vehicle and a train at the railroad crossing located along highway 30 on 250th Ave. The investigation indicated that a van had become stuck on the tracks and was left abandoned on the track and a westbound train ran into the abandoned vehicle. A Sheriff’s Deputy was able to identify the individual whom had been driving the van at the time as 40 year old Victor Vazquez-Gallegos of Columbus who was issued a citation for Careless Driving and No Proof of Insurance.
No one was injured in the accident.
